These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of maketheresume.co websites, applications, products, and services, including our resume builder, cover letter builder, AI-assisted writing tools, document generation tools, templates, export tools, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account, starting a trial, purchasing a subscription, clicking to accept these Terms, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, school, recruiter, career coach, employer, or other entity, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization, and "you" includes that organization.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. Service Description

The Service allows users to create, edit, import, store, format, tailor, export, and manage resumes, CVs, cover letters, job application materials, and related career content.

The Service may include AI-assisted rewriting, summarization, keyword optimization, formatting, template selection, resume scoring, document storage, document export, version management, and related workflow features.

We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features from time to time. We will use reasonable efforts to provide notice of material changes that materially reduce paid core functionality.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to purchase a subscription or enter into a paid contract for the Service.

You may not use the Service if doing so would violate applicable law, sanctions, export controls, or other legal restrictions.

3. Accounts and Security

You must provide accurate, current, and complete information and keep it updated.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account.

You must promptly notify us at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access or misuse of your account.

4. User Content

"User Content" means resumes, CVs, cover letters, application answers, uploaded files, edits, prompts, job descriptions, exported documents, and other information you upload, create, revise, store, or process through the Service.

You retain ownership of User Content. You grant maketheresume.co a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process, reproduce, transmit, display, modify, and use User Content only as necessary to provide, maintain, secure, support, improve, and legally operate the Service.

You represent that you have all rights, permissions, and consents necessary to submit and process User Content through the Service.

5. AI-Assisted Features

The Service may include AI-assisted drafting, rewriting, summarization, formatting, job-tailoring, and resume optimization features.

AI outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, generic, biased, or unsuitable for your intended use. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying all generated output before using it in any job application or professional context.

You must not use AI features to generate unlawful, deceptive, discriminatory, defamatory, infringing, misleading, or fraudulent content.

We do not guarantee that use of the Service will result in interviews, job offers, or any particular professional outcome.

6. Trials

Eligible paid plans may include a 7-day free trial.

Where clearly disclosed at signup or checkout, a credit card or other payment method may be required to start a trial.

If a payment method is required for the trial, the selected plan will automatically renew as a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel before the trial end date.

We may limit, suspend, or terminate trial access to prevent abuse, fraud, account duplication, chargeback risk, or violation of these Terms.

7. Subscription Plans, Billing, and Taxes

Paid plans, billing periods, included features, usage limits, and prices are shown on our pricing page, checkout page, or applicable order form.

By purchasing a subscription or starting a card-required trial, you authorize maketheresume.co and our payment processors to charge applicable fees, taxes, renewals, upgrades, add-ons, and other amounts you authorize.

Fees are exclusive of taxes unless stated otherwise. You are responsible for applicable sales tax, VAT, GST, withholding tax, or similar charges based on your billing location and applicable law.

You must keep payment information accurate and current. If payment fails, we may retry payment, suspend features, restrict access, downgrade your account, or terminate the subscription after any notice required by law.

8. Auto-Renewal, Cancellation, and Plan Changes

Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date.

You may cancel through your account settings where available or by contacting [email protected].

Cancellation stops future renewal charges but does not automatically refund the current billing period unless required by law or expressly stated in our Refund Policy.

Upgrades may take effect immediately and may result in prorated charges. Downgrades generally take effect at the end of the current billing period unless we state otherwise.

9. Refunds

Refunds, credits, billing disputes, and trial conversion issues are governed by our Refund Policy and applicable law.

10. Acceptable Use

You may not use the Service to:

● Violate law or third-party rights.

● Upload false, fraudulent, infringing, or deceptive content.

● Impersonate another person or misrepresent qualifications, employment history, references, certifications, or other professional information.

● Use the Service to commit fraud, identity theft, or deceptive employment practices.

● Interfere with, disrupt, reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or bypass security of the Service.

● Upload malware, harmful code, or malicious files.

● Use the Service to build a competing product or benchmark it without permission.

● Resell, sublicense, or provide unauthorized access to the Service.

We may investigate suspected violations and take action, including limiting features, suspending accounts, terminating subscriptions, deleting content, or reporting unlawful conduct.

11. Templates, Content, and Intellectual Property

maketheresume.co and its licensors own all rights in the Service, including software, design, UI, workflows, templates, documentation, trademarks, logos, and other materials, excluding User Content.

Subject to these Terms and your subscription, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for your personal or internal business use.

You may not copy, distribute, resell, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works of the Service except as expressly permitted by law.

12. Third-Party Services

The Service may rely on third-party services such as payment processors, AI providers, analytics providers, authentication tools, cloud hosting providers, and document conversion tools.

Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party service availability, content, accuracy, or performance.

13. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and process personal information.

You are responsible for ensuring that any personal data you include in User Content is lawfully provided and that you have any permissions needed to upload or process it through the Service.

14. Availability and Support

We aim to provide a reliable Service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or delay-free operation unless a separate written service level agreement applies.

Support availability may vary by plan, region, and issue type.

15. Data Export and Account Closure

You are responsible for exporting any User Content you want to keep.

After cancellation, expiration, or termination, access to stored User Content may be limited or removed according to our Privacy Policy, product settings, backup cycles, and applicable law.

16. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service if we believe you violated these Terms, failed to pay fees, created security risk, engaged in fraud, abused trials or refunds, or used the Service unlawfully.

You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time.

Termination does not relieve you of fees owed before termination. Provisions that should survive termination will survive, including payment obligations, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and dispute provisions.

17. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, maketheresume.co disclaims all warranties, express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, and error-free operation.

We do not guarantee that resumes created through the Service will be accepted by employers, applicant tracking systems, recruiters, or job boards, or that use of the Service will lead to interviews, job offers, or other outcomes.

18. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, maketheresume.co will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost opportunities, lost goodwill, lost data, business interruption, or replacement services.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, maketheresume.co's total liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of USD $100 or the amounts paid by you to maketheresume.co for the Service during the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These limitations do not apply where liability cannot be limited by law.

19. Indemnity

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless maketheresume.co, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses arising from your User Content, your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, your violation of law, or your violation of third-party rights.

20. Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

If you are a consumer in the UK, EEA, Canada, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection rules, those protections apply to the extent required by law.

21. Notices

We may provide notices by email, in-product messages, website postings, account notices, or other legally appropriate means.

You may send legal notices to [email protected] unless applicable law requires another method.

22. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws stated in the applicable order form, checkout terms, or entity notice. If no separate governing law notice applies, these Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where maketheresume.co is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Courts located in that jurisdiction will have exclusive jurisdiction unless mandatory consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

Before filing a claim, each party agrees to try to resolve disputes informally by contacting the other party and allowing a reasonable time for response.

23. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

If changes are material, we will provide notice by updating this page, emailing you, posting in-product notice, or using another legally appropriate method.

Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
